On the visual level, the artist seems to have captured the precise moment when morning light punctures the veil of mists, gradually revealing the shapes and colors of the garden. The palette is dominated by whites tinged with gray, subtle greens and touches of earthy colors that suggest the wet and fertile soil of this dreamy landscape.
White, used with mastery and restraint, plays a central role in the composition, acting like diffuse light which makes a path through the mist. There is a play of light and shade which adds depth to the image and creates an enveloping atmosphere, almost palpable.
Technically, Malynovska once again demonstrates a great skill in manipulation of pictorial matter. The layers of paint are stratified with delicate attention, creating texture effects that suggest the presence of foliage, emerging flowers and elements of the garden that emerge from misty ambiguity. The stripping technique is again present, but perhaps with a more subtle touch than in its larger works, appropriate to the more intimate size of the canvas.
